Emergency Kit
An Emergency Kit is a collection of basic items your household may need during an emergency.
Basic Disaster Supplies Kit:
- Water (one gallon per person for several days for drinking and sanitation
- Food (at least a 3 day supply of non-perishable food
- Battery-powered radio and a NOAA Weather Radio
- Flashlight
- First aid kit
- Extra batteries
- Whistle (signal for help)
- Dust Mask
- Plastic sheeting and duct tape
- Towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties
- Wrench or pliers (to turn off utilities)
- Manual can opener to open food
- Cellphone with chargers and a backup battery
Consider adding these items:
- Prescription and non-prescription medications
- Pet food and water
- Cash or traveler's checks
- Infant formula, bottles, diapers and wipes
- Important family documents
- Sleeping bag for each person or blankets
- Change of clothing
- Matches in a waterproof container
- Personal hygiene items
- Paper cups, plates, paper towels, plastic utensils
